Lofi study timer

Pomodoro timer with lofi music — free, no ads, no download

Prodpod combines a customisable 25-minute Pomodoro timer with a built-in lofi music player and ambient sound mixer. Study solo or share a room with friends — everyone hears the same playlist.

Does lofi music actually help you study?

Research suggests that instrumental music with a consistent tempo (around 60–80 BPM) can improve focus by masking irregular background noise and creating a stable auditory environment. Lofi hip-hop's intentionally muted textures and repetitive rhythms are specifically designed to avoid the melodic variation that typically pulls attention away from tasks.

A 2019 study (Shih, Huang & Chiang) found that background music with low arousal characteristics improved performance on creative and analytical tasks compared to silence. Ambient sounds like rain, café noise, and white noise have similar masking effects without the association content that words or lyrics carry.

Prodpod puts both in the same interface as your Pomodoro timer. The music starts when your focus block starts, and fades when your break begins — creating a conditioned cue that signals "it's time to work" over repeated sessions.

Who uses a lofi study timer?

The combination of structured time-boxing and background music works particularly well for people who need help maintaining attention in noisy or distracting environments.

Students revising at home

Background noise from a house or flat is unpredictable and attention-grabbing. Lofi music provides a consistent audio layer that keeps you in focus mode.

Remote workers

Home offices lack the ambient energy of coworking spaces. Lofi stations replicate that background texture without the distraction of lyrics or conversation.

People with ADHD

Many people with ADHD report that consistent background sound reduces the pull of environmental distractions. The Pomodoro timer adds the structure that solo music alone can't provide.
